Inmate providers, large and small, stop revenue losses due to collect call validation problems. These losses, regardless of source, can be crippling for any provider. AmTel/ATN, Inc. has developed a value added validation service available to all inmate collect call telephone providers at reasonable costs.

The Problem:

Most Competitive Local Exchange Carriers (CLEC) ANI's are un-billable. The failure of validation to correctly report the billing status for a queried ANI is the single most identifiable source of revenue loss for inmate providers. The primary cause is the Incumbent Local Exchange Carrier's (ILEC) failure to consistently update the Line Identification Database (LIDB) database to reflect CLEC ANI's leased wholesale through their networks. A secondary validation failure is due to the reluctance of most CLEC's to fully inform their customers, as to their eligibility to receive third party billed traffic like collect calls. Upon validation, many of these ANI's return data looking as if belonging to a billable ILEC. The true billable status of these ANI's are only learned when the call detailed records are returned to the provider.

This problem will be exacerbated with bill number portability between cell phone providers, ILEC's and CLEC's. The LEC's own these databases and users have little input as to the timing or completeness of the data updates.

The Solution:

Stop the bleeding early, by adding failing and fraudulent ANI's to the validation solution as soon as the data becomes available. This provides immediate cross-platform blocking of all offending ANI's at the point of validation.
